Untamed Borders

Untamed Borders is a UK based adventure travel company. They have run ski touring trips to Afghanistan since 2011 and are currently the only company offering ski trips to Afghanistan. They run an annual trip to ski in Bamian plus can offer private trips for individuals or small groups. They work with local Afghan ski guides that are still being trained in the art of ski guiding plus an international ski guide to ensure safety on the slopes. Untamed Borders run nurmerous trips each year to Afghanistan and can rely on up to date security reports to ensure guest safety.

Places to ski:
due to the current political situation, Bamian is the only place that can be recommended for skiing. However, Badakhshan, Panjshir, Paghman and the Salang Pass have been skied by adventurous ex-pats from Kabul.

Prices:

– Turkish Airlines: return Amsterdam (via Istanbul) to Kabul: euro 650,00
– Emirates: return Amsterdam (via Dubai) to Kabul: euro 700 (note that the Dubai–Kabul leg is run by Safi
airlines)
– Visa: Visas must be obtained before arrival. Visa requirments and costs vary greatly from country to country.
Contact a tour operator or the nearest Afghan embassy for details.
– Hotels: In Bamian there are a few guesthouses and hotels. Expect to pay between US$50-100 for a double room.

Transport:
– Travelling within Afghanistan is not something to be done lightly. Ensure you have up to date security reports or travel with a reliable tour operator.
