In 2010 Gear4guides was set-up by Olaf Sueters, who has a passion for skiing the unbeaten track influenced by Harmen van der Kooy his old buddy from College. Their first exotic ski experience was in Bulgaria where they had a splendid time because of the input of members The Bulgarian Extreme Freeride & Skiing Association. After that trip Olaf was hooked and published several articles in White Free ski magazine and Skimagazin in Germany.
Harmen van der Kooij was born 4 meters above see level in Utrecht in 1972. He combined skiing and dishwashing in St. Moritz and worked as a attractive skiteacher in Zell am See for one season. His home base was the terrifying (plastic) slopes of the Beeksebergen in the Netherlands. After the start of his office career he started making skitrips to exotic locations like Bulgaria, Marocco, Iran and Eastern-Turkey.
Joris Lugtigheid (photographer) has a great passion for water and snowsports and is hooked to making interesting images, that made him decide to combine these passions and become a professional photographer. He graduated in 19997 at the Photo Academy in Harlem. Joris is one of the top photographers in the field of action sports in combination with fashion. At least 20 weeks per year he’s traveling around the globe to shoot for brands like Brunotti, Protest, O’Neill, Mystic, Magic Marine and Red Bull. With his photography he also supports charity organizations like SOS Kinderdorpen in the Townships of Africa.
Jimmy’s obsessive pursuit of the ultimate ski run and the perfect powder dump has led him to take jobs including ski instructor, off-piste guide, travel guide, slopeside singer-entertainer, bar owner, hotelkeeper, travel arranger and most recently ski writer and photographer. He has skied in 48 countries during his search for ski nirvana, and his work has been published in fifteen of those nations. Among Jimmy’s journalistic accomplishments are 30 magazine covers and more than 300 published ski features.
